Dr. J. L. Kinter, Ph.D., Princeton University, 1984. Director, COLA. Senior Research Scientist. Dr. Kinter conducts general circulation modeling experiments to determine the impact of global boundary conditions on extended range forecasts, the role of biophysical feedback on seasonal variability, and the extent to which analyses of atmospheric observations may be improved through model development. After completing his doctorate, Dr. Kinter was a National Research Council associate at Goddard Space Flight Center for one year, and an assistant professor of meteorology for three years and an assistant research scientist for six years at the University of Maryland.
