ALMA Standard Variables Expected Range of Values ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A summary of quality control values for the ALMA standard variable definitions are given below. Sign conventions correspond to the 'traditional' choice. The variables have been grouped into eight general categories: * Meteorological Forcings * General energy balance components * General water balance components * Surface state variables * Sub-surface state variables * Evaporation components * Streamflow * Cold season processes In the case of the meteorological forcing the hourly time scale was considered to provide a range of values. For the other categories it was considered that the daily time scales would be appropriate. Thus it must be kept in mind that if for instance output is generated from the land-surface scheme every hour the values may exceed the provided range. This Web page is also used by the Quality program. It is thus necessary to know for each variable if it is sensitive to the sign convention and which is its level of importance in the output file.If the variable is sensitive to the sign convention then the column will have a "Y". For the output level the following coding is used: F=Forcing, P=Parameter, M=Mandatory, R=Recommended and O=Optional.
