Submitting data to the ICC

Each production team will supply to the ICC selected four sets of data. (Full details of the format for the data is described elsewhere). 5GB EXABYTE 8mm magnetic tape should be used to store and ship only the control run. Headers should be attached for each variable, and should be written in ASCII format character (see formats). The data themselves should be represented in 4 byte real IEEE format. All the data should be written to tape using the UNIX tar command.

The data files themselves should have the following naming convention (for ease of processing by the ICC):
Snapshot Variables Syymmdd.xxx
Decad-Mean Variables Dyymmdd.xxx
Fixed Fields FIXED.xxx
Monthly-Mean Diurnal Cycles at Specific Points Pyymm.xxx
yy = Year (87, 88 or 89 [for final time period])
mm = Month (01 through 12)
dd = Day (01, 11 or 21)
xxx = 2 to 4 letter indicator for the production group/model (please choose something unique - e.g. Goddard participants avoid "GSFC").

Please include with your tape a note explaining the model/version you used, how you calculated wilting point and field capacity, and any other noteworthy aspects of your model run or output data which would be of interest to the ICC or other users. This includes any ways that you may have had to deviate or improvise from the GSWP guidelines. Also include information on how many years it took you to "spin-up" and how went about equilabrating your initial state. One interesting example would be a table ot the number of land points which met the convergence criterion each year of spinup.
SAMPLE COVER NOTE

The tape should be sent to:

The NEW deadline is 31 March 1997.
